Section 2/7.2 Parking Ban during Snow Events
a. The words “motor vehicle” or “vehicle” means any vehicle propelled or drawn by any non-muscular power.
b. The words “parked vehicle” means a motor vehicle in a stationary position within the limits of a public way.
c. The word “street” shall mean any public way, road, or street in the Town of Raynham.
d. The word “snowstorm” shall mean such time as two inches of snow have fallen and thereafter until the completion of snowplowing operations.
Parking shall be prohibited upon the streets of the Town of Raynham at times when a snowstorm occurs. The Chief of Police for the Town of Raynham shall make the public aware of the parking ban going into effect.
Any vehicle found parked in violation of this by-law may be removed, or conveyed by or under the direction of a member of the Raynham Police Department by means of towing or otherwise, to a site deemed appropriate by the Raynham Police Department. Such removal shall be at the risk of the owner. Before the owner or person in charge of such vehicle shall be permitted to remove the motor vehicle from the custody of the site where it was towed, the owner shall furnish evidence of their identity and ownership or right to possession, and shall pay the site towing and/or storage charges which were reasonably incurred in such removal.
The provisions of this bylaw shall not apply to emergency vehicles while on an emergency call, public service vehicles or physicians and ambulances on emergency calls.
Any person who shall violate or fail to comply with any section of this by-law shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200.00)
