Positive Mosquito EEE
Message: Eastern Equine Encephalitis, triple E, virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Massachusetts for the first time this year. The mosquito sample was collected on July 4th, 2007 in Raynham. The sample included Culiseta melanura mosquitoes which are considered bird biters. While this is an early appearance for triple E virus, overall mosquito numbers are down for this time of year.
