Aquaria Water Pipeline Project
Planned Construction Activities in Your Neighborhood
October 17, 2007
Dear Resident/Property Owner:
RE: Start of Aquaria Water Pipeline Project Construction on Elm Street and Bridge Street in Raynham
Aquaria Water, LLC is constructing a 16.5 mile long water pipeline from a desalination plant in Dighton through the communities of Taunton, Raynham, West Bridgewater and Easton to Brockton. The Project will enhance the region’s water infrastructure and supply. P. Gioioso & Sons, Inc., of Hyde Park, MA, the contractor for Aquaria Water LLC, anticipates beginning construction of the Aquaria Water Pipeline Project in your neighborhood soon.
The contractor will install a new 20-inch diameter water main in portions of Elm Street and a new 8-inch diameter local water main in a section of Bridge Street. Aquaria is installing the local water main in Bridge Street for the Town. A temporary water bypass piping system will be installed to ensure you continue to receive water during construction. Some temporary water service interruptions will be necessary during construction and each may last up to several hours. The interruptions are necessary in order to switch buildings on each street from the existing water main to the temporary water bypass system and then from the bypass to the new water main. Some interruptions will also be necessary for the contractor to test the system and ensure that valves in the street are operating
properly. If your property will be affected by the planned water interruptions, you will receive a flyer providing 48 hours notice before the water interruptions occur.
Buildings are connected to the bypass system using hoses that run from the bypass pipe in the curbline to an outside faucet on the building. Please do not turn off the faucet that the bypass hose is connected to or attempt to disconnect the hose. The contractor will provide temporary cold patch asphalt ramps over bypass pipes crossing driveways. Once buildings are connected to the new water main, the bypass pipes and asphalt ramps will be removed.
You may see flags of differing colors in the vicinity of the pipeline alignment or markings on roadways. These are placed by the contractor and Dig Safe to delineate where existing utilities are located to prevent damaging them. Please do not remove the flags or markings.
The contractor will attempt to maintain two lanes of travel, whenever feasible. If the contractor is not able to maintain two lanes of travel, a traffic pattern of one alternating lane of travel will be implemented. Police details will be present to direct traffic during the contractor’s weekday work hours. Should a detour be necessary, the contractor will coordinate this with the Police Department and post signs marking the detour route. The contractor’s work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, depending on weather.
