The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has informed us that a bird (blue jay) has tested positive for the West Nile Virus. The bird was found on Hall Street and its date of death was September 23, 2005.
The Raynham Highway Department is currently larviciding catch basins in Town to help limit the spread of the virus. The larviciding program will continue approximately until the first frost this fall.
Bristol county Mosquito Control Project has ceased spraying for the 2005 Season as of September 27, 2005.
