Board of Selectmen September 19, 2017
Marie Smith called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Present were Joseph Pacheco and Marie Smith.
Acceptance of the Minutes
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the minutes of the September 12, 2017 meeting as printed.
Department Heads & Committees
Mr. Ed Buckley, Highway Superintendent was present to give his monthly report. The contractors have continued work on the basketball court at Merrill School and have added additional parking spaces in the front. The department has continued to clean catch basins during the good weather, but is getting chain saws and the chipper ready for the impending storm. They are also getting the plow and salt trucks ready for the winter season. Park & Rec worked on getting ready for Raynham Pride Day and have been working on the soccer fields. They have installed a new shed building to replace an old school bus where the crew seeks refuge during bad weather. On Chapter 90 funding, the department is in the process of repaving Church Street, River Street and River Brook Drive. There have
been some requests from residents regarding the intersection of Robinson and Ann Streets because of the high volume of walkers and they’re safety. He met with the Police Chief and also had a traffic engineer look at it and after meeting with them, they are recommending putting in a 3 way stop. Mr. Pacheco made a motion to approve and Mrs. Smith seconded.
Mr. Pacheco wanted to thank Kevin and Shirley Ellis for all the work they to make Raynham Pride Day such a success.
Town Administrator’s Report
Mr. Flaherty reviewed the Town Administrator’s Report. The activation plate for Town Hall has been installed and the Town will be reimbursed by the ADA Grant from the State.
The Town Hall’s new phone system will be installed next Monday.
The Capital Planning Committee has finalized their approvals, approximately 90% and they are going to wait for 2 – 3 weeks for free cash.
Mr. Flaherty will be attending MCPPO training in Boston for the next two weeks.
The doors have been started at the North School and should be done soon, and RMC Construction will begin work on the bathroom within 30 days. And Mr. Flaherty will be getting another quote next week for the painting.
The next Selectmen’s Meeting will be next Tuesday, September 26th.
A letter of resignation was received from Kim Dolan, Coordinator of Volunteers. Mr. Pacheco made a motion to accept with regret and thanked her for her services, Mrs. Smith seconded.
A letter of resignation was received from Mrs. Joanne Stanley, as Chairperson of the Raynham Housing Authority effective immediately, and also of the Board of Commissioners. Mr. Pacheco made a motion to accept with regret and thanked her for her services, Mrs. Smith seconded.
A letter of resignation was received from Marty Brurer as a Commissioner from the Raynham Housing Authority Board, effective September 14th. Mr. Pacheco made a motion to accept with regret and thanked her for her services, Mrs. Smith seconded. Mr. Pacheco made a motion to post both vacancies immediately and request letters of interest from the community through October 6th, Mrs. Smith seconded.
A Tag Day request was received from B-R Regional High School for the following days: October 9th – 11th, 26th & 27th, and November 25th & 26th. Mr. Pacheco made a motion to accept, Mrs. Smith seconded.
The Raynham Veteran’s Appreciation breakfast will be held at the Raynham Lions Club on Sunday November 12th from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
7:21 p.m. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing of Bills and Warrants with no business to be conducted afterwards.
