Board of Selectmen Minutes 11/07/2017
Board of Selectmen                                                                                      November 7, 2017
Karen Donahue called the meeting to order at 6:58 p.m.
Present were Joseph Pacheco, Marie Smith and Karen Donahue.  

Acceptance of the Minutes
Mr. Pacheco made a motion and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the minutes of the October 31st meeting as printed, Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.  


Notice was received from the Zoning Board that they unanimously voted for the recommendation of the appointment of Mr. Thomas G. Ramondetta.  Mr. Pacheco made a motion to appoint, Mrs. Smith seconded and Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.  
Notice was received from the Council on Aging that they voted to recommend the appointment of James Cerep, from Associate Member to Full Member, who replaced Antoinette Baptiste who resigned.  Mr. Pacheco made a motion to appoint, Mrs. Smith seconded and Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.  
Department Heads & Committees

Mr. John McGarry, member of the Veterans Committee was present to discuss honoring a fallen soldier.  The honoree is Corporal Chester H. Danforth who was killed in action on October 9, 1918.  He is the twelfth fallen solder to be honored.  His registration card had his home address listed as Orchard Street and for that reason, it is appropriate that his Fallen Hero sign be erected on Orchard Street at the intersection of Judson Street.  Mr. McGarry asked the Board’s permission to request that Highway Superintendent Ed Buckley install the sign.  Mr. Pacheco made a motion to approve, Mrs. Smith seconded and Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.  

Old Business

The Board discussed the Application for an Alcoholic Beverage License transfer for Occasions and Peddler’s Loft.  Mr. Pacheco made a motion to hold a Public Hearing on November 21st at 7:00, Mrs. Smith seconded and Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.  

Town Administrator’s Report
Mr. Flaherty reviewed the Town Administrator’s Report.  The doors are done and Mr. Flaherty has received the keys. The bathroom renovation is almost done and he anticipates a painting contract within the next couple of days for the archive room.  
The Town’s new website should be on line within the next two weeks.  
As Acting Health Agent he has reviewed six Title V reports, one septic system design for construction, two abandonments and one animal bite.  
He will be attending the Bristol County Preparedness Coalition meeting on Nov. 21st in Norton and the MHOA Annual Conference next week.  
The Veteran’s Salute will be held at the Raynham Middle School at 9:00 a.m., at Merrill School at 10:30 a.m. and at Laliberte 10:30 a.m.
The Special Town Meeting will be held on Monday Nov. 13th and copies of the warrant will be available at the COA, the Library, Town Hall as well as on the web site.  
The next Selectmen’s Meeting will be held on November 14th at 7:00 p.m.
The next Department Head Meeting will be held on November 16th at 10:00 a.m.
An auction of Town owned properties will be held on Nov. 8th at noon in Town Hall.  

Selectmen’s Report
Mrs. Donahue just wanted to remind everyone that there will be a breakfast at the Legion on Saturday morning to honor the Veterans from 7:30 to 12:00 noon.
Mrs. Smith asked Mr. Flaherty to send a letter of thanks to Lowe’s for the replacement of the flags and worked on the monuments they did.  Also, on the Business and Economic Development Committee, Mr. Strojny had to resign because of work commitments and Bill Lewis has asked to be put on that Board.  Mrs. Smith made a motion to accept the resignation and appoint Mr. Lewis to the Board, Mr. Pacheco seconded and Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.  
Mrs. Smith asked if Mr. Iafrate could be present at the next Selectmen’s Meeting to report on the Rt. 138 Committee. She would like to know the status of the construction on Rt. 138 as it is still unfinished.   She would also like the letter also sent to Rep. D’Emelia and Sen. Pacheco.  Mr. Pacheco said that the construction was not supposed to be finished for a couple of years.  
Mr. Pacheco attended the Chamber’s 100th Anniversary and would like to send a letter congratulating them for their 100 years of service.  
A Tag Day request was received from Taunton Pop Warner for the following dates:  Nov. 7th, 14th, 28th, 29th & 30th.  Mr. Pacheco made a motion to accept, Mrs. Smith seconded and Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.  


7:11 p.m. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing of Bills and Warrants with no business to be conducted afterwards.  Mrs. Donahue made it unanimous.
