Raynham Quality of Education Committee
Minutes of Meeting 9/15
Present- John Donahue, Marie Smith, Gordon Luciano, Tammy Perry, Gemma Kochan, Betty Thompson, Karen Crisafulli, John Thomas, Mary Hocking. Stephen Donohue
Meeting called to order by Mr. Donahue at 7:05pm
Mr. Luciano motioned to appoint Mr. Donahue Chairman, seconded by Mrs. Perry. All in favor.
Mr. Donahue thanked the committee on behalf of the Board of Selectmen for agreeing to serve.
General discussion followed regarding the charge of the committee. Mr. Donahue explained that his reason for establishing the committee was to determine what the town considers a quality education. He stressed that this committee was not formed to study de-regionalizing. The committee asked to keep an open mind throughout the process and not allow themselves to be swayed by their personal opinion. The committee was formed to take an unbiased look at the educational offering and suggest remediation.
Mr. Luciano offered to give the committee a global look at the history of the district at the next meeting. He thought, and all agreed, that the committee could benefit from a better understanding of how we got to where we are today.
Sept 27 was set as the next meeting date. All were asked to consider how the work of the committee should be organized.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20pm
