RAYNHAM QUALITY OF EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Mr. Luciano called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.
Mrs. Kochan motioned and Mrs. O’Brien seconded to accept the minutes of the January 17, 2005
meeting. The vote made it unanimous.
Mr. Luciano forwarded a copy of the Governor’s FY06 Budget and the proposed Budget Report for the Bridgewater/Raynham Regional School District to all members of the Committee.
Mr. Luciano stated that the proposed School Budget is only the beginning as to where Raynham really needs to be.
Mr. Thomas asked if each line item on the proposed School Budget had an explanation as to why it has been placed back onto the Budget. Members concurred that an explanation of each item should be available.
Mrs. O’Brien explained the necessity of the new Bridgewater/Raynham High School having the highest priority due to it being on probation.
Mr. Donahue requested a list informing all of the number of teachers, guidance counselors, principals, etc. for which each line item represented on the proposed School Budget.
Mrs. O’Brien said that there would be five consecutive Monday School Committee Meetings starting on Monday, February 28, 2005.
Mr. Donahue presented the Committee with four additional completed Raynham Quality of Education surveys along with Program of Studies Booklets from Shrewsbury, Scituate and Grafton High Schools.
Mrs. O’Brien asked if the members of the Committee would like to attend some or all of the School Committee Meetings. Members concurred that they would like to attend some if not all.
Mr. Thomas suggested attending the School Committee Meeting with the list of prioritized line items proposed on the School Budget.
Mr. Donahue asked for the concurrence of the Committee as to a time frame for when they felt the quality of education in Raynham should be at the full potential. Committee members agreed upon 3 to 4 years.
Committee members agreed upon the next meeting date to be Monday, February 21, 2005, 3pm at the Senior Center.
7:50pm – Mr. Luciano motioned and Mrs. O’Brien seconded to adjourn. The vote was unanimous.
