In Attendance: Commissioner Josh Daisy, Commissioner Chris Shaw, Director Andrea Berardi, and Administrative Assistant/Recording Secretary SJ Blanchard.

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Chris Shaw, acting as Chairman in light of Jim Brow’s absence.  Josh made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 11, 2017 meeting.  Chris seconded the motion and the two voted in favor of the motion.

Andrea reported on the following:
  • Work on the Pleasant Street outdoor basketball courts is currently underway, with Sel. Joe Pacheco and the Highway Dept. at the helm of the renovations.
  • Work on the garage at the 2000 King Philip Street rental house will begin next week, and the first phase of renovations is expected to take about a month.
  • New childcare administrator Jordan DaSilva started last week.  She plans to attend next month’s commission meeting to introduce herself.
  • The before-school and after-school programs are all at full capacity for the start of the school year, with lengthy wait lists for all three programs.
  • The multi-purpose field will be rested this fall.  She is coordinating the use of the remaining fields with RYS.
The following fall field-use requests were acted on:
  • RYBSA requests the use of softball fields 5 and 6 on Saturdays and Sundays between Aug. 28 and Nov. 1, 2017.  Andrea reported that there seems to be no conflicts.  Josh made a motion to approve this permit request; Chris seconded and the two voted in favor of the motion.
  • Raynham Youth Lacrosse requests the use of the RMS football/soccer field from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays between Sept. 11 and Oct. 23, 2017.  Josh made a motion to approve this permit request; Chris seconded and the two voted in favor of the motion.
  • South Shore Rox requests the use of the McKenney Babe Ruth Field on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. between Aug. 15 and Nov.15, 2017.  Josh made a motion to approve this permit with a fee of $550; Chris seconded and the two voted in favor of the motion.
  • Rock Hard Racing requests the use of the Borden Colony athletic complex for a bike race to be held on Nov. 25, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Josh made a motion to approve this request with a fee of $360.  Chris seconded and the two voted in favor of the motion.
  • Rock Hard Racing requests the use of the Borden Colony athletic complex for its third annual Crosstoberfest bike race, to be held on Oct. 18, 2017 from 3 p.m. until midnight.  Josh made a motion to approve this request with a fee of $480.  Chris seconded and the two voted in favor of the motion.
Josh made a motion to recommend Board of Selectmen approval of one-day liquor licenses for the following Lions Club events: Chicken Barbeque Aug. 20, 2017 from noon to 5 p.m.; Clam Boil Oct. 22, 2017 from noon to 5 p.m.; Game Suppers on Jan. 19 and March 23, 2018, both from 6 to 11 p.m.; Super Bowl Feb. 4, 2018 from 4 to 11 p.m.  Chris seconded the motion and the two voted in favor.

Josh asked whether any new field complaints had been received and Andrea responded that she has not heard of any.
Chris noted that the struggle with people parking on the grassy areas at the Pleasant Street athletic fields continues, particularly during large tournaments.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:21 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
SJ Blanchard
