October 24, 2006 BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Chairman Donald L. McKinnon called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to
order at 6:07pm.
Present were Donald L. McKinnon, Raymond W. Platt, and John M. Donahue.
Mr. Donahue motioned and Mr. Platt seconded to accept the minutes of the October 17, 2006 meeting as printed. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
Board members conducted interviews with two auditing firms: R.E Brown & Company and Thevenin, Lynch & Bienvenue. After a brief statement from both firms and questions from the Board, Mrs. King and Mrs. Boucher, Board members concurred to take it under advisement for one week.
Representatives from Shaw’s Supermarket, Stop & Shop and the Yes on One campaign were present.
Mr. Slarves, Stop & Shop; Mrs. Butts, Shaw’s; and Jim Borghesani informed the Board that they were in favor of Question 1 and discussed the reasons why. Mr. Carp was present and again stated concerns with Question 1. Mr. Donahue motioned not to make any recommendation regarding Question 1. Mr. Platt seconded for discussion. Discussion followed. Mr. Platt motioned to go on record against Question 1 and Mr. Donahue seconded for discussion. Mr. Platt and Mr. McKinnon voted aye. Mr. Donahue voted no. The motion carried.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.
Correspondence - The Board received from the Chamber of Commerce information regard the invitation to Mr. Richard McCarthy to attend their meeting regarding updates and potential developments in Raynham. The Chamber requested that bus routes on Rt. 138 and Rt. 44 be established.
Correspondence - The Board received from Pine Hill Estate Mobile Home Owner’s Association information regarding the election of officers for the upcoming year and a favorable report on the
relationship with park management.
Correspondence – The Board received from Gerardina Harlow a request for the appointment to the vacant position on the Council on Aging. Mr. Donahue motioned and Mr. Platt seconded to forward the request to the Council on Aging. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received a request from Lawrence Cabeceiras to be appointed as a Constable in Raynham Mr. McKinnon said that Chief Pacheco had it reviewed and recommended Mr. Cabeceiras. Mr. Donahue motioned and Mr. Platt seconded to appoint Lawrence Cabeceiras as Constable for one year. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
7:11pm – Mr. Donahue motioned and Mr. Platt seconded for a recess from the Board of Selectmen meeting in order to hold the pre-Town Meeting. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
