September 18, 2007 BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Chairman John Donahue called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:10pm.
Present were John Donahue, Donald L. McKinnon and Joseph Pacheco.
Mr. Donahue stated that a joint meeting with Park & Recreation to fill a vacancy was scheduled for this evening. However, the Board received late this afternoon an additional application for the vacancy on the Park & Rec Commission. Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to close the receipt of applications as of this date. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Donahue requested the posting of interview times, which should be scheduled within the next week and to re-schedule the joint meeting to September 25, 2007.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed
Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to schedule the Town Meeting on Wednesday,
November 14, 2007. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Donahue suggested a joint meeting with the Capital Planning and Finance committees prior to the Town Meeting.
Mr. McKinnon suggested contacting Park & Recreation with a request to visit and clean the fields prior to Pride Day.
Mr. Donahue said that a Fun Walk is scheduled on Pride Day at 12:30 at the Lions Club to benefit the Children’s Room at the Raynham Library.
Mr. McKinnon spoke of the recent interest in an application for a casino at the Taunton/Raynham Dog Track by Mr. Carney. Mr. McKinnon suggested the Town request a vote from local communities on the casino.
Mr. Pacheco said that the next meeting scheduled for the Task Force on Casinos will be on
October 4, 2007 at 7pm at the Lakeville Public Library.
Correspondence – The Board received a letter of support from Senator Pacheco regarding the Town’s Public Works Economic Development Grant application.
Correspondence – The Board received from the Walpole Board of Selectmen a request for support for a moratorium on subsidized housing under MGL Chapter 40B.
Correspondence – The Board received a request for funding for hazardous tree removal in the amount of $20,000. The request was forwarded to the Finance Committee.
Correspondence – The Board received information regarding the MMA fall regional breakfast meetings.
Correspondence - The Board received a request from the Raynham Boys Travel Basketball Team for tag days on December 8 & 9, 2007. Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to approve the tag days for the Raynham Boys Travel Basketball Team on December 8 & 9, 2007. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. McKinnon requested an Executive Session following the scheduled meeting regarding possible litigation.
7:43pm – Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants and to go into Executive Session re: litigation with no business to be conducted afterwards. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
