January 15, 2008 BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Chairmen John Donahue called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:04pm.
Present were John Donahue, Donald L. McKinnon and Joseph R. Pacheco.
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the minutes of January 8, 2008 meeting as printed. The vote made it unanimous.
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept tag days as recommended by Mr. Buckner pending approval from the Water District for any scheduled car wash. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to open and accept articles for the Special Town Meeting warrant. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner informed that there has been five Articles received, two for Terrier Way, two from the Tree Warden and one from the Police Department for vehicle repair. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the five articles as presented. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to schedule a Special Town Meeting for
February 12, 2008, 7pm at the Town Hall. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to schedule a Public Hearing for the acceptance of a layout of Terrier Way on February 5, 2008. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner requested that the Board approve the temporary hire of Janice Boucher as interim Town Accountant while we search for a permanent Town Accountant. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the hire of Janice Boucher as interim Accountant. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Mr. Donahue reminded all that the Harlem Wizards vs. the Raynham Middle School All-stars is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Raynham Middle School Gym.
Mr. Donahue reminded all of the 8th Annual Frostbite Road Race on January 20, 2008.
Correspondence – The Board received a postponement notice for the 8th Grade Open House, which has been re-scheduled to January 28, 2008.
Correspondence – The Board received a request for horse shows from the Cape Cod Hunter Association and South East Hunter Association for the following dates: April 26, June 21, August 16, August 23, May 3 and June 7, 2008. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the listed dates for both Associations. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received correspondence from the Governor’s Office in reply to the Board’s letter about the importance of traffic lights on Rt. 138 and Rt. 495.
Correspondence – The Board received a request from the Knights of Columbus to make King Philip Street a one way from about 11:15 AM to 12 noon during their Annual Road Race on March 9, 2008 and to have the assistance of the Police and Highway Departments. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the request from the Knights of Columbus. The vote was 2-0 with Mr. Donahue abstaining from the vote.
7:23pm – Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, Executive Session re: contract negotiations and litigation with no business to be conducted afterwards. Mr. Donahue made it unanimous.
