Board of Selectmen Minutes 05/13/2008

May 13, 2008                                                    BOARD OF SELECTMEN


Chairmen Joseph R. Pacheco called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to
order at 6:07pm.

Present were Joseph R. Pacheco, Donald L. McKinnon, and Marie A. Smith.

Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the minutes of the May 6, 2008
meeting.  The vote made it unanimous.

Chief Andrews was present and updated the Board on the monthly call report for April.

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mr. Buckner requested the Board’s approval for FY 2009 contracts for copy paper and DPW supplies as recommended by SERSG.  Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the contracts, as recommended, for FY 2009 for copy paper and DPW supplies.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the summer schedule for the Board of Selectmen regular meetings as follows:  Off weeks-June 3, 17, July 1, 15, 29 and August 12 & 26; Meeting weeks-June 10, 24, July 8, 22 and August 5 & 19 and regular weekly schedule beginning after Labor Day.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

Mr. McKinnon said that he and Mr. Pacheco attended the B-R School Committee’s special meeting last night during which the appointment of Dr. Forbes was unanimous for the position of Superintendent.

Correspondence – The Board received from Attorney Antine his opinion regarding Applicability of Town of Raynham Transient Vendor By-Law.  Attorney Antine informed the Board that under the By-Law, the operation would not be allowed unless open for business during usual business hours for a period of at least 12 consecutive months.

Correspondence – The Board received from the Professional Fire Fighters of Raynham a reminder of the Annual Fishing Derby at Johnson’s Pond on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

Correspondence – The Board received from Comcast information regarding the award of a $1000 scholarship to Kevin Walters from the Comcast Foundation.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to forward a letter of congratulations to Mr. Walters.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Board received from George L. Moniz, Jr., owner of Raynham Laundry Center, a request for a Beer & Wine License at 575 S. Street West.  Mr. Buckner informed that, at present, there are no licenses available.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to forward the request to the ABCC.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Board received an invitation from the North Raynham Water District for a Ground Breaking Ceremony on May 18, 2008 at 12 noon.

Correspondence – The Board received requests for Tag Days as follows:  Mission of Teen Challenge for May 11 to 13, 2008; Longhorn Steakhouse car wash for Relay for Life Team; VFW Post 2094 of Dighton for May 27 to 30, 2008.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to approve the Tag Days as listed pending approval from the Water District.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

6:28pm – Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, followed by an Executive Session regarding
Grievance, with no business to be conducted afterwards.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
