September 16, 2008 BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Chairmen Joseph Pacheco called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:04pm.
Present were Joseph Pacheco, Donald L. McKinnon and Marie A. Smith.
Mr. Pacheco informed all that the Board was returning from an Executive Sessions regarding Contracts.
Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the minutes of the September 9, 2008
meeting as printed. The vote made it unanimous
Alan Perry, Health Agent, was present and updated the Board on the recent positive test of EEE in Raynham. Mr. Perry stated that at present, the risk factor is low, which is also where Raynham was at the beginning of June this year. Mr. Perry recommended that all residents take precautions when outside.
Mr. Perry informed all that Raynham’s Annual Flu Clinic would be held on November 13, 2008 at the Senior Center.
Mr. Perry informed the Board that the Bristol County Emergency Coalition was forming a Medical Reserve Corp.
The Board received from the Finance Committee a letter of recommendation to appoint Emre Oztunc to the vacant position on the Committee. Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to appoint Emre Oztunc to the Finance Committee. Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.
Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to schedule the Fall Town Meeting on Monday, November 17, 2008. Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner reminded all that articles for the Warrant would be due by October 6, 2008.
Mrs. Smith informed all that she attended a workshop presented by Erika Ueberbacher regarding the Wetlands Protection Act. Mrs. Smith also reminded all that Pride Day would be held on Sunday,
September 28, 2008, 1-4pm and that the Raynham Veteran Memorial Committee will be having a booth to help with the fundraising for the Veterans Memorial.
Mr. Pacheco stated that many Massachusetts residents have not received their tax relief check from the Government and urged all, especially senior citizens, to contact the Government.
Correspondence – The Board received a letter of interest from Barbara Scott regarding the vacant position on the Council on Aging. Board Members concurred to forward the letter to the Council on Aging.
Correspondence – The Board received from the MA Telecom Cable Commission a reply to Raynham’s inquiry regarding the waiver for solicitation for different cable companies in Raynham. The Telecom Commission stated that the Town could waive the national advertising and the 60 day time period for applications if it wished to. Board Members concurred to forward it to Kevin Ellis, Chairman of the Cable TV Advisory Committee.
7:31pm – Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, Executive Session re: Litigation, with no business
to be conducted afterwards. Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
