Board of Selectmen Minutes 09/30/2008
September 30, 2008                                              BOARD OF SELECTMEN

Chairmen Joseph Pacheco called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:01pm.

Present were Joseph Pacheco, Donald L. McKinnon and Marie Smith.

Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the minutes of the September 23, 2008 meeting as printed.  The vote made it unanimous

Linda King, Town Treasurer, was present and reminded all that the 2nd quarter Real Estate and Personal Property tax is due November 3, 2008.

Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the ascertainment findings, as printed, for Comcast.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mr. McKinnon thanked Mr. & Mrs. Ellis for their efforts in the preparation of Pride Day.  Unfortunately, weather did not permit Pride Day to go on.  Mr. McKinnon also thanked all the intended participants and requested a letter of thanks to be forwarded to Mr. & Mrs. Ellis.  

Mr. McKinnon informed all that he and Mr. Buckner have been researching communities in MA who currently have a Superintendency Union.  Mr. McKinnon spoke of the difference between the region and a Superintendency Union.  He stated that he would have a more defined report with figures at a later date to present to the Board.

Mr. Pacheco informed all that the next Casino Task Force Meeting would be held in Halifax on October 23, 2008.

Correspondence – The Board received a letter from the West Bridgewater Board of Selectmen requesting an appointment to a Regional Task Force for the research of a proposed fossil fuel facility in Brockton.  Board Members asked Mr. Buckner to contact the West Bridgewater Board of Selectmen for additional information on the Task Force.

Correspondence – The Board received the findings from the ABCC on two establishments located in Raynham who were in violation of the law regarding the sale of alcohol to a minor.  The following was determined by the ABCC: Greyhound Liquors, warning issued; Tip Top Seafood/Louie Seafood, suspended license for 2 days - November 5 & 6, 2008.

Correspondence – The Board received from Applebee’s a request for a change of manager.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to schedule a Public Hearing on October 14, 2008.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Board received from the Bristol County Agricultural School an invitation to their Fall Show on October 16, 2008.  

7:35pm – Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, with no business to be conducted afterwards.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
