Highway Superintendent Roger Stolte and Lisa Sherman of CDM were present to discuss the issue of sidewalks on Elm St. East. Mr. Stolte said the main issue was money. The residents, after two workshops held at the Senior Center, had decided on sidewalks with a widening of the road to accommodate a bike lane. Ms. Sherman said the cost of engineering the permitting was $300,000 which could be paid from Chapter 90 funds. Mr. Stolte said roughly $50,000 remained from the developers contribution. Ms. Sherman said that they had consulted with SRPEDD who felt the construction part of the project would be eligible for enhancement money from the State. Mr. Pacheco said because of the fiscal crisis, the Governor may cut Chapter 90 funds if the situation worsens. Discussion followed.
