Board of Selectmen Minutes 12/2/2008
December 2, 2008                                                        BOARD OF SELECTMEN

Chairmen Joseph Pacheco called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:02pm.

Present were Joseph Pacheco, Donald L. McKinnon and Marie Smith.

Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the minutes of the November 25, 2008
meeting as printed.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mr. McKinnon spoke of the newly formed K-8 Superintendency/De-regionalization Study Committee and the two vacancies on the Committee for citizens.

Mr. McKinnon reminded all that the 11th Annual Lighting of Raynham is scheduled for December 12, 2008.

For the Holiday Season, Mr. McKinnon reminded all that the purchase of a brick for their loved ones can be done through the Veterans Office, which would help with the Veterans Memorial Fund.

Correspondence – The Board received information from SRPEDD regarding Assistance to Cities and Towns that an additional 20 hours of assistance from SRPEDD would be available.  Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to apply for the additional 20 hours available through SRPEDD.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Office of Congressman Barney Frank informed the Board that he had forwarded a request to the FCC regarding reclassification of Raynham into the Boston DMA.

Correspondence – The Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce forwarded a request to the Board to consider the decrease of the commercial tax rate for businesses in the Town of Raynham.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to forward correspondence to TACC informing them of the issues the Town is having with the Department of Education and to seek their assistance in the matter.  Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.

7:25pm – Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants with no business to be conducted afterwards.  
Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
