Board of Selectmen Minutes 2/3/2009
February 3, 2009                                                        BOARD OF SELECTMEN

Chairmen Joseph Pacheco called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:00pm.

Present were Joseph Pacheco and Donald L. McKinnon.

Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to accept the minutes of the January 27, 2009 meeting as printed.  The vote made it unanimous.

Mr. Jim Ross was present and informed all that the next Finance Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2009.

Mr. Buckner informed all that the scheduled presentation on Emergency Dispensing Site for Raynham was cancelled for this evening.

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mr. Buckner said that Chief Januse has requested the Board’s assistance in the matter of a failure to install sprinkler system per state code by Escapades on Broadway.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and
Mr. Pacheco seconded to forward the information from Chief Januse to Attorney Antine for further review.  The vote made it unanimous.

Mr. McKinnon reviewed the figures on the Governor’s proposed local aid budget, i.e., Raynham’s FY2010 cherry sheet.

7:24pm – Public Hearing – Raynham Corp. renewal of Gravel Permit off Gardiner Street.
Present was David Wluka, representing Raynham Corp., to inform the Board that the site work was on-going as in the years past and that soil sampling would be done as soon as weather permits.  Mr. Buckner recommended approving the permit pending soil testing.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to approve the Gravel Permit off Gardiner Street to Raynham Corp. pending soil test results.  The vote made it unanimous.

Mr. Pacheco spoke of the figures presented by the Governor for FY2010 and the votes taken by the Board last year regarding no additional increases on the restaurant meals tax and hotel/motels room occupancy tax.

Correspondence – The Board received from the Highway Department information regarding snow and ice removal costs, $217,148.43 as of January 29, 2009.

Correspondence – The Board received from the Town Planner information regarding Raynham’s Affordable Housing Plan.  Mr. Buckner recommended scheduling a meeting with the Town Planner to discuss it.

Correspondence – The Board received from Congress a response to the Board’s request regarding information for possible future use of Verizon services.

Correspondence – The Board received Form 500 from Comcast which is the form Comcast used to report complaints in the community and how Comcast responded to them including time taken to resolve the complaints.
Correspondence – The Board received from Chief Januse the Fire Department January Activity Report.

Correspondence – The Board received requests for Tag Days as follows:  Taunton Gridiron High School Football Team for August 15 & 16, 2009 and Girl Scouts for cookie sales at the Raynham Flea Market on February 15, 2009.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to approve the listed Tag Days.  The vote made it unanimous.

7:53pm – Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants with no business to be conducted afterwards.  
The vote made it unanimous.
