March 10, 2009 BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Chairmen Joseph Pacheco called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:00pm.
Present were Joseph Pacheco, Donald L. McKinnon and Marie Smith.
Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the minutes of the March 3, 2009 meeting as printed. Mr. Pacheco made unanimous
John Donahue, from the Knights of Columbus, was present and updated the Board on the success of the 19th Annual Knights of Columbus Road Race held on Sunday, March 8th. Mr. Donahue presented the Board with a copy of the Ad Book, which contained over 50 sponsors. Mr. Donahue gave special thanks to the Board, Boy Scout Troop 43, the American Legion, Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion, and Town of Raynham especially the residents along the route. Three plaques were presented to the Board to be give to the corresponding Town Departments whose help aided the entire race: Raynham Highway Department, Raynham Fire and Police Department.
Mr. Pacheco read the documents for the Order of Taking on Thrasher Street. Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the Order of Taking of property on Thrasher Street, which included Parcels P1, P2 and P3. Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.
Mr. McKinnon spoke of the Financial Budget for FY09 and FY10 along with the different Cities and Towns and their economic growth during the past few years. Mr. McKinnon congratulated the Finance Committee, Capital Planning and Mr. Buckner for working together on the budget for the Town.
Correspondence – The Board received information from SRPEDD regarding the amount Raynham will be assessed for the Southeastern Regional Plan & Economic Development District for FY10 and the benefits of being a member of the District.
Correspondence – The Board received a request from the Raynham Lions Club for a one-day liquor license on April 25, 2009 from 1 PM until 12 midnight to host a Texas Hold’em for the benefit of the Raynham Veterans Memorial. Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the Raynham Lions Club request for a one-day liquor license on April 25, 2009 to host Texas Hold’em. Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received from Belcher Stanley a request to serve on the Mobil Home Park Rent Control Board. Board members concurred to forward to the Mobil Park Rent Control Board for review.
Correspondence – The Board received an invitation from Aldi Stores, South Windsor Division to attend the Media Day, Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on May 1, 2009.
Correspondence- The Board received from the Raynham Fire Department the monthly report for February.
7:35pm – Mrs. Smith motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, Executive Session regarding Contracts with no
business to be conducted afterwards. Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
