Board of Selectmen Minutes 05/12/2009

May 12, 2009                                                    BOARD OF SELECTMEN

Chairmen Donald McKinnon called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 6:36pm.

Present were Donald L. McKinnon. Marie Smith, and Joseph Pacheco.

Mr. Pacheco motion and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the minutes of the May 5, 2009 meeting as printed.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the summer schedule for the Board of Selectmen Regular meetings as follows:  Off weeks-June 9, 23; July 7, 21; August 4, 18; September 1-- Meeting weeks-June 2, 16, 30; July 14, 28; August 11, 25 with the regular weekly schedule beginning September 8, 2009.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.

Mr. McKinnon discussed the possibility of conducting a Medical Waste Day for Raynham residents.  Mr. McKinnon suggested contacting Mr. Perry and asking him to research the costs associated.

Mrs. Smith congratulated the students and staff of the High School on a wonderful performance they did during the recent production of “All Shook Up.”

Mr. Pacheco informed all that there were approximately 50 participants for Student Government Day.
Mr. Pacheco spoke of the MORE grant and the progress at Raynham Woods Park. He said that he has been informed by Mr. Stolte that the paving should be completed by the end of May.

Correspondence – The Board received information from the MMA regarding “Legislative Health Insurance Plan Much Worse than Expected”.

Correspondence – The Board received a reminder of the 2009 Household Hazardous Waste Day, June 13, 2009.

Correspondence – The Board received a License Application from Raynham Taxi located at 407 Rt. 44.  Mr. Buckner recommended approving the license which the applicant has held previously.  Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to approve the Taxi License for Raynham Taxi.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Board received a letter of interest from Martin J. O’Donnell for the vacant position on the Planning Board.  Board Members discussed the Joint Meeting with the Planning Board next week.

Correspondence – The Board received a letter from Senator Pacheco regarding a meeting to discuss the State Budget on May 13, 2009 at the Bristol/Plymouth Regional Tech School from 6 PM until 9 PM.

Correspondence – The Board received information from SRPEDD regarding the additional lane for Rt. 24.

Correspondence – The Board received from the Town of Easton, Board of Selectmen a letter discussing the Providence Designated Market Areas for cable television. The Town wanted Easton and other Bristol County municipalities to be included in the Boston DMA.

6:56pm – Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, and an Executive Session regarding Collective Bargaining, with no business to be conducted afterwards.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous
