Board of Selectmen Minutes 01/05/2010

January 5, 2010                                                 BOARD OF SELECTMEN


Chairmen Donald McKinnon called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:02pm.

Present were Donald L. McKinnon, Marie Smith, and Joseph Pacheco.

Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the minutes of the December 29, 2009 meeting as printed.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mrs. Smith informed all that the Veteran Committee Meeting scheduled for January 11, 2010 had been cancelled.

Mr. Pacheco informed the Board that Mr. Donahue would be staying on to attend the meeting requested by Dr. Pacy to discuss the Amended Agreement between the Town of Bridgewater, Raynham and the Bridgewater/ Raynham Regional School District.

Mr. McKinnon read correspondence sent to the members of the K-8 Study Committee.  Mr. Buckner said that Steve Donohue is a liaison to the Committee from the School Committee. Mr. McKinnon informed all that there were four options to be considered by the K-8 Study Committee for the May Town Meeting.  The four items would be: District remains the same (no action);  a Superintendency Union; a break from the District; or a revamping of the District Agreement.

Board members reviewed a draft letter addressed to Representative Flynn regarding the Education Reform Foundation Budget. The letter asked that the formula take into consideration the cost of attracting and maintaining businesses which increase the Town’s equalized property valuations and the thereby the charge to the Town. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to forward the letter to Representative Flynn.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The board received from Mr. Perry information regarding scheduled dates for the H1N1 Clinics to be held at the Merrill School and High School.

Correspondence – The Board received an Activity Report for the month of December from the Fire Department.

Correspondence – The Board received a request for a Seasonal Beer & Wine License from Raynham Laundry Center.  Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to forward the request to the Board of Health, Fire and Police Department.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Board received from Mr. Stolte information regarding the Highway Snow and Ice Budget exceeding $50,000 along with the request for funds.  Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to approve the request pending approval from the Finance Committee.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.

7:34pm – Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, Executive Session regarding Contracts, with no business to be conducted afterwards.  Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous
