March 16, 2010 BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Chairmen Donald McKinnon called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:00pm.
Present was Donald McKinnon and Joseph Pacheco. Marie Smith was absent.
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the minutes of the March 9, 2010 meeting as printed. The vote made it unanimous.
Rick Sypher, teacher from Bridgewater/Raynham High School, was present to introduce members from the newly formed Civics Club. A student from the Civics Club was present to extend an invitation to all Raynham residents for April 15, 2010, 7-9pm at the Raynham Middle School for a program the students have designed called “Meet and Greet the Candidates Night.” There is also a similar event happening on April 14, 2010, 7-9pm at the High School for Bridgewater residents.
Mr. Buckner told the Board that there were two seasonal licenses for Wine & Malt Beverage up for renewal. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the renewal of a seasonal license for Wine & Walt Beverage to Grand China Buffet and Asian Palace. The vote made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s report was reviewed.
Correspondence – The Board received a notice from the Bristol County Mosquito Control of aerial larvacide application to be done this spring (and summer if necessary).
Correspondence – The Board received from Christopher’s Seafood & Steakhouse, Inc. a request for alteration to the licensed premises. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to schedule a Public Hearing for April 6, 2010 at 7:10pm. The vote made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received from SRPEDD information regarding a feasibility study to be launched re: regional 911 centers for certain SRPEDD communities. SRPEDD was inquiring about Raynham’s interest. The information will be forwarded to Chief Pacheco.
Mr. Pacheco said that he attended the Open House at Surly Johnson’s last week.
Mr. McKinnon spoke on the K-8 Committee reporting. He said that the financial experts within the Committee have spoken to surrounding communities who have a Superintendency Union or have broken a region in the near past. He also informed everyone that the Committee would be meeting with the State to discuss the possibility of the State allowing the Town to de-regionalize, if the proposed article passed.
Correspondence – The Board received the approval from Park & Rec on two requests for the use of Borden Colony. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the requests for the lease of Borden Colony property by the Reed Brothers and Nihtila Farms. The vote made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received from the MA State Lottery Commission information regarding Brennan’s Smoke Shop applying for Keno To Go. Mr. Pacheco moved and Mr. McKinnon seconded to give its approval to the request. The vote was unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received from the Highway Department a request to award a second year contract to apply chemicals to various locations in Town to Yukon Landscaping. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to award the second year contract to Yukon Landscaping. The vote made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received information regarding the Town of Raynham Rabies Clinic on April 10, 2010, 12-2pm.
Correspondence – The Board received a request for a Tag Day from Ms. Ferris of Berkley for April 18, 2010 for the Susan B. Komen Walk for Breast Cancer. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the request for a Tag Day. The vote made it unanimous.
7:50pm-Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, with no business to be conducted afterwards. The vote made it unanimous.
