BOARD OF SELECTMEN APRIL 20, 2010
Chairmen Donald McKinnon called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:06pm.
Present was Donald McKinnon, Marie Smith and Joseph Pacheco.
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to accept the minutes of the April 13, 2010 meeting as printed. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
Pat Riley and Pat White were present to request the Board’s approval for Raynham’s 18th Annual CAST Week. Ms. Riley informed all of the planned activities taking place during the week in the Elementary and Middle Schools. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to approve Raynham’s 18th Annual CAST Week, May 2 through May 8, 2010. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
Appointments – Mr. McKinnon read correspondence from Fred Sylvia informing them of Adam Perry’s resignation as Assistant Animal Control Officer and his recommendation of Steven Wood to the position. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to appoint Steven Wood of 113 Temi Road as Assistant Animal Control Officer. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.
Mr. McKinnon thanked Mr. Buckner, Ms. Francis and Mr. Olson for their assistance in establishing the Community Gardens for Raynham.
Mr. Pacheco said that the House had approved the casino/slot machines-at-race-tracks bill by a large margin and that the bill had been sent to the Senate for action. Mr. Pacheco motioned to forward a letter of appreciation to Speaker of the House Deleo and Representative Flynn for pushing the bill forward, Mrs. Smith seconded the motioned and Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
Mr. McKinnon read a letter from Representative Flynn regarding correspondence received from the Board on the feasibility of the Bridgewater/Raynham School District. Representative Flynn’s hope was that the Bridgewater/Raynham School District remained in-tact. But if the vote by the residents were to de-regionalize K-8, he assured the Board that it would be done in a timely manner.
Mr. McKinnon informed all of a proposed agreement between the Town of Raynham and Town of Middleboro Board of Health for Nursing Services at $40 per hour to be used for special circumstances. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to approve the contract with the Town of Middleboro Board of Health for Nursing Services at $40 per hour. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received information from the Office of Barney Frank regarding the current lack of available stimulus funding for the intersection of Rt. 44/Orchard Street and the South Street East Bridge. The Congressman will explore alternative methods of funding them.
Correspondence – The Board received the following requests for Tag Days: Cub Scout Pack 11 for May 2, 2010 and Drifter Softball Team for June 6, 2010. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to approve the requested Tag Days as listed above. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
7:34pm-Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants with no business to be conducted afterwards. Mr. McKinnon made it unanimous.
