Board of Selectmen Minutes 08/24/2010

BOARD OF SELECTMEN                                                            August 24, 2010

Chairman Marie Smith called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:05pm.

Present was Marie Smith, Donald L. McKinnon and Joseph Pacheco.

Acceptance of the Minutes --  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to accept the minutes of the August 10, 2010 meeting as printed.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

Appointments – Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to re-appoint as Constable, Louis Borges, Jr. of 123 Hart Street Taunton and Timothy W. Holt of 55 Lakeview Drive.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous

Present was Mr. Lewis to discuss a proposal submitted to the Bridgewater/Raynham Regional Agreement Study Committee – “Disposition of Jointly Held Assets.”  Mr. McKinnon stated that the proposal was presented to the Committee recently who voted 7/1 to table the report and form a sub-committee to discuss its language.  Mr. McKinnon stated that the proposal was intended to be attached to the liquidation of the old high school.
Mr. McKinnon and Mr. Lewis stated that they would not be attending the sub-committee meetings to discuss the language in the proposal.

Old Business – As requested by Mr. McKinnon, Chief Pacheco inspected the intersection of Dean and Hill Street.  The recommendation by the Chief was for Mr. Stolte to install a stop sign at the intersection.  
Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to request the Highway Department install a stop sign at the intersection of Hill Street at Dean Street traveling south from Route 44.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mr. McKinnon asked Mr. Buckner if the State has replied back regarding Raynham’s cut in State aid.
Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to forward correspondence to Senator Pacheco and Representative Flynn requesting them to communicate with the DOR to possibly analyze Raynham’s package from the State.

Mr. McKinnon read his letter of resignation from the Bridgewater/Raynham Regional Agreement Study Committee effective August 31, 2010.

Correspondence – The Board received a petition for the Fall Town Meeting for the acceptance of Karen’s Way as a public way.  Board members concurred to forward to the Planning Board for its recommendation.

Correspondence – The Board received notice from the ABCC regarding a hearing on the appeal of the denial of a seasonal wine and malt beverage license for the Raynham Laundry Center.

Correspondence – The Board received from the Daughters of the American Revolution a proposed Proclamation for Constitution Day for September 17, 2010.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to approve the Proclamation for the Daughters of the American Revolution for September 17, 2010.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Board received the following requests for Tag Days:  Middleboro Veterans Out-Reach Program for September 17, 2010 and Multiple Sclerosis Challenge Support for September 6, 2010.  Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to approve the above-listed Tag Days.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

8:07pm-Mr. McKinnon motioned and Mr. Pacheco seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants with no business to be conducted afterwards.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
