BOARD OF SELECTMEN September 28, 2010
Chairman Marie Smith called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:02pm.
Present was Marie Smith, Donald L. McKinnon and Joseph Pacheco.
Acceptance of the Minutes -- Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the minutes of the September 21, 2010 meeting as printed. Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
On the appointment of Assistant to Sealer of Weights and Measures, Mr. Buckner said that because the position is only temporary and does not pay a salary, he would recommend that the Board appoint Paul Farrell, 277 Ramblewood Drive until June 30, 2011. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to appoint Paul Farrell as temporary Assistant Sealer of Weights and Measures. Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.
Fall Town Meeting – Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to schedule the Fall Town Meeting on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
Mr. Buckner informed all that the Pre-Town Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 9, 2010.
Mr. Pacheco congratulated and welcomed a couple of new businesses to the Town, particularly Blunt Force Tattoo, McGee Chevrolet and Brandon Smoke Shop.
Mr. Pacheco attended the dedication ceremony in honor of Sgt. Jared Monti over the weekend and congratulated both Paul Monti and Park & Rec for the outstanding job done on the playground.
Mr. McKinnon commented on the dedication ceremony in honor of Sgt. Monti, which was presented wonderfully. Mr. McKinnon attended the Senior Citizen Mini-Olympics recently hosted by Kathleen Roberts.
Correspondence – The Board received from Hansen & Associates a request to place an article on the Town Warrant for the acceptance of Karen’s Way.
Correspondence – The Board received notice regarding a Public Hearing by the Planning Board for an Open Space Subdivision. The area of discussion for the subdivision is the corner of South Main and King Phillip Street.
Correspondence – The Board received from Attorney Antine information regarding the denial of the application for further appellate review filed with the Court by DeMoulas Super Markets, Inc.
Correspondence – The Board received a request from Richard White for an appointment to the Raynham Cultural Council. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to forward the request to the Raynham Cultural Council for a recommendation. Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
Correspondence – The Board received information from the MMA regarding Sales Tax Ballot Question Threatens Local Aid.
Correspondence – The Board received from the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission information regarding the offering of KENO To Go to and existing agent, Mobil at 1266 Broadway.
Correspondence – The Board received from Occasions an inquiry regarding an All Alcoholic License. Board members concurred to table the request until the license becomes available.
Correspondence – The Board received from the US Geological Survey, information regarding the Taunton River off Titicut Street in Bridgewater. Beginning October 15, 2010, the National Weather Service will be doing daily river stage forecasts from that location.
Correspondence – The Board received information regarding a Blood Drive on October 9, 2010 in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of St. Ann’s Church.
Correspondence – The Board received requests for Tag Days from the following: Fundraiser on
December 12, 2010 for the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation and candy fundraiser from Ann Rogers for the Roller Stating Adventure Team on September 30, 2010. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the above-listed Tag Days. Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
7:38pm-Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants with no business to be conducted afterwards. Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
