Board of Selectmen Minutes 02/01/2011

BOARD OF SELECTMEN                                                            February 1, 2011

Chairman Marie Smith called the regular meeting of the Raynham Board of Selectmen to order at 7:01pm.

Present were Marie Smith, Donald L. McKinnon and Joseph Pacheco.

Acceptance of the Minutes -- Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to accept the minutes of the January 25, 2011 meeting as printed.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

Appointment – Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to appoint Christopher Gilbody to the vacant position on the Board of Appeals.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
Appointment -- Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to appoint Paul Bowen as Warden and Cheryl Bowen as Assistant Warden of Precinct 3.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

The Board received a request from the Metro dealership group for an additional franchise at its location at 1651 Route 44, namely Volkswagen.  Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the addition of Metro Volkswagen at 1651 Rt. 44.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous. Mr. McKinnon asked Mr. Buckner to contact Metro about its Volvo business.

Correspondence – The Board received a request from the South Shore Horsemen’s Council for Horse Shows at Rozenas’s Field.  Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve Horse Shows for the South Shore Horsemen’s Council on May 15, June 26 and August 21, 2011.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

Mr. Buckner’s Town Administrator’s Report was reviewed.

Mrs. Smith informed all that she and Mr. Buckner attended a birthday celebration today for Stephanie Tokarz who turned 100 on January 27th.

Correspondence – The Board received a letter of interest from Grace Smallhoover for the vacant position on the Raynham Council on Aging.  Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to forward the letter to the Council of Aging.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

Correspondence – The Board received from MMA information regarding the Governor’s FY2011 Budget Recommendation.

Correspondence – The Board received information regarding flu shots available at the Middleboro Health Department.  Mrs. Smith requested Mr. Buckner post the information for all.

Correspondence – The Board received the following requests for Tag Days:  Venture Crew 1005 of Norton for July 2 & 3, 2011; Mullein Hill Christian Academy for May 22, 2011; Disabled American Veterans, Forget-Me-Knots for August 6, 7, 8, 26 & 27, 2011; Sparks All Stars for July 9 & 10, 2011.  Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to approve the above listed Tag Days.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.

7:18pm-Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mr. McKinnon seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing Bills and Warrants, Executive Session regarding the Safety of the Town, with no business to be conducted afterwards.  Mrs. Smith made it unanimous.
