Board of Selectmen May 23, 2017
Chairman Karen Donahue called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present were Joseph Pacheco and Karen Donahue
Acceptance of the Minutes
Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Donahue seconded to accept the minutes of the May 16, 2017 meeting as printed.
Department Heads & Committees
Chief Jim Donavan was present to give his Activity Report. The department logged 1,181 calls and 38 people were booked. On the 9th there was a robbery at the Seasons Gas Station on Rt. 44 and the Officers did an excellent job with very little information to apprehend the suspect and recover the property. There was a shooting on the 11th and although it occurred in Taunton, there was a lengthy search including the Officers from Raynham and there was a successful conclusion. And just an update on the IMC computer system, the Police Department will be live just prior to July 1st.
Town Administrator’s Report
Mr. Flaherty reviewed the Town Administrator’s Report. The North School Committee has notified vendors for painting and door replacement to begin work. They are waiting for an additional bid for the downstairs plumbing work.
There is a Veteran’s Day Plaque that was received from Governor Baker that will be read at the Memorial Day Ceremony. A flag is to be donated by Congressman Lynch that was flown over the Capitol.
The MA ADA grant work is almost complete.
The Public Auction of 320 Titicut Road will be held on May 24th at 11:00 a.m.
The next scheduled Selectmen’s Meeting will be held on May 30th the following week, June 6th there will be no meeting.
Mr. Flaherty will be attending a public contracting course on June 6th, 7th and 8th in Boston.
The next Department Head Meeting will be held on June 15th.
The 5th Annual Memorial Day Parade will step off at 10:00 a.m. at the Merrill School parking lot. The three mile route will begin on Pleasant St. and through the intersection onto South Main St. and then onto King Philip Street there at the Gazebo Park a small service will be held. Also, there will be a chicken barbeque at the Lions Club immediately following the service. Tickets are available through the Clerk’s Office.
Correspondence was received from House of Hope of New Bedford, requesting the following Tag Days: May 30th & 31st and June 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th. Mr. Pacheco made a motion to approve, Mrs. Donahue seconded.
7:06 p.m. Mr. Pacheco motioned and Mrs. Donahue seconded to adjourn for the performance of administrative duties, signing of Bills and Warrants, with no business to be conducted afterwards.
