CHILD FIND NOTIFICATION

December 10, 2019

Dear Bridgewater-Raynham Families:

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 612 (a) (3), includes the Child Find mandate:

“All children with disabilities residing in the State, including children with disabilities who are homeless children or are wards of the State and children with disabilities attending private schools, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, and who are in need of special education and related services, are identified, located, and evaluated and a practical method is developed and implemented to determine which children with disabilities are currently receiving needed special education and related services.”

This mandate also asks that we, as a school district, reach out to families and let you know that if you are concerned about your child’s growth and development and suspect that your child may have a disability or delayed area of development, please contact Tracy Taccini, the Preschool Secretary of the Special Education Office, at 508-977-0504 x100. A guardian may also contact us if they wish to have their child participate in a screening for the purpose of potentially enrolling within the district’s nationally accredited preschool program as a typically developing student. The district’s preschool program currently has 6 classrooms that are integrated where children with and without disabilities are educated together. All staff are highly qualified. A spot for the 2020 - 2021 school year may be reserved for any child who passes the screening.

Sincerely,

Paul Tzovolos
