Good Morning, I just wanted to share a scam alert from our friends at the Fairhaven Police Department.
Most if not all of the banks in our county are very good with teller and customer service training whereby they have their employees on the lookout for large withdrawals. However, it is perhaps because of better bank training nationwide that elders now may be being prompted over the phone or through e-mail to purchase a Green Dot Card or ITunes gift card or some other type of gift card and then to read or type the numbers on the card to the scammer through the phone or e-mail. Once they do this though their money is gone and it will be very difficult if not impossible to recover as it is often challenging to determine where the scam originated, it may be out of the county, state or even the country.
Please make be aware of these types of scams where you might t be asked to purchase a gift card and to read or send the information on the card to the scammer.
