Job Posting: Part-Time Public Health Nurse

The Town of Raynham seeks a part-time, contract Public Health Nurse who works independently in the provision of skilled public health nursing services in accordance with state regulations. The Nurse will work with, and under the supervision of, the Board of Health of the Town of Raynham.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Exercise the day-to-day duties of disease investigation and case management using MAVEN (Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiologic Network), the state’s web-based communicable disease investigation/case management platform;

In the case of Active Tuberculosis cases and in accordance with 105 CMR 365.000 the Public Health nurse shall act as the case manager. Case management for tuberculosis is defined as the coordination of the medical, nursing, outreach, adherence support, and social service systems that will ensure that all persons with confirmed and clinically suspected tuberculosis are started on appropriate therapy, and that all persons with confirmed tuberculosis complete an appropriate and effective course of treatment;

Develop a protocol to be used in training other health workers for the purpose of fulfilling the need if DOT’s (Direct Observational Therapies) are required.  This protocol shall include, but not be limited to instruction on how to assure the patient has swallowed the prescribed medications and a list of questions to be asked and observations to be made on topics such as side effects;

The Public Health Nurse shall provide support and guidance as needed and determined by the Board of Health on other public health related topics.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program for registered nurses; two years of experience in community or public health nursing; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  Must have knowledge of applicable state and local public health laws and regulations.

PAY RATE AND SCHEDULE:  $60/hour; 5-10 hours per week; position can be done remotely
