Town Accountant – Search updated and reopened
The Town of Raynham seeks a qualified and highly motivated Town Accountant. Duties include; maintenance and reconciliation of town financial records and payables administration. Accountant participates in budgeting, capital planning, procurement review, and assists in preparation of various reports. This position would demand the person to be able and willing to contribute their professional knowledge in the development of strategies for related offices in respect to fiscal policies and mandated requirements.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field; five (5) years progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance required; at least three (3) years of supervisory experience and experience in municipal accounting strongly preferred, will consider a person who has successfully served in an Assistant Town Accountants role for over 4 years.
Candidate must have an in-depth understanding of GASB requirements for municipalities, working knowledge of Massachusetts municipal finance law, and proven ability to supervise others, manage projects, develop policies, and meet deadlines.
Preferred: possession of or actively working toward Ma. Certified Governmental Accountant; Required: the ability to acquire certification within three (3) years required.
The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, superior skills in municipal accounting software and spreadsheets, and the ability to work evenings during the spring and fall budget development. Excellent written and oral communication skills are important, as well as organizational skills.
The position is full-time; salary of up to $85,000 based upon experience and education.
