Board of Selectmen / Planning Board                                                                                December 11, 2019

 

Chairman Joseph Pacheco called the Special Joint Meeting of the Board of Selectmen with the Planning Board to order at 5:34 p.m. in the meeting room at Veterans’ Memorial Town Hall, 558 South Main Street. In addition to Chairman Pacheco, Selectmen Marie Smith and Patricia Riley were in attendance, as well as Town Counsel Ted Pietnik.

 

Ms. Riley made a motion, which was seconded by Mrs. Smith, to enter into Executive Session in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30A, Section 21, to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and the chair so declares. On a roll call vote, Chairman Pacheco and Selectmen Smith and Riley voted in the affirmative to enter into Executive Session. 

 

At 6:04 p.m., Planning Board Vice Chairman P. Burke Fountain and members Russell Driscoll, Chris Gallagher, and John Teixeira joined the meeting. Vice Chairman Fountain called the Special Joint Meeting of the Planning Board with the Board of Selectmen to order at 6:05 p.m. in the meeting room at Veterans’ Memorial Town Hall. A motion was made and seconded to enter into Executive Session in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30A, Section 21, to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and the chair so declares. On a roll call vote, Vice Chairman Fountain and Planning Board members Driscoll, Gallagher, and Teixeira voted in the affirmative to enter into Executive Session.

At 7:15 p.m., Vice Chairman Fountain announced that the Planning Board was returning from Executive Session with nothing to report at this time. He asked for a motion to conclude the Planning Board members’ involvement in the Special Joint Meeting. A motion was made, seconded, and approved unanimously to do so.  The Planning Board members then left the meeting.

At 7:25 p.m., Chairman Pacheco announced that the Selectmen were returning from Executive Session with nothing to report at this time. A motion was made by Ms. Riley and seconded by Mrs. Smith to adjourn the Special Joint Meeting. Mr. Pacheco made it unanimous.
